10/16/2017 - Red Hot Chili Peppers @ The Pepsi Center - Denver, CO

After having to postpone their original Denver show date, the Red Hot Chili Peppers returned to Denver without missing a beat. The best bass player in the entire world (in my humble opinion), Flea entered the Pepsi Center stage at the start of the show to announce the opener and childhood friend Jack Irons who killed it on drums. Afterwards, Trombone Shorty got the party bumping with their fun big New Orleans jazzy band. Both openers were the stuff of legends and fans were thoroughly amped for their favorite band to play. The RHCP started with some classic shredding on the bass, guitar and drums before lead singer Anthony Kiedis came on stage to sing to, or maybe rather with, the crowd.  The night was a wonderful celebration for both Flea's birthday and for the love of music. The talent of this musical group could be seen and heard throughout the whole Pepsi Center. I was simply in awe of finally getting to photograph one of my most favorite groups. 10/04/2017 - Allan Rayman @ The Globe Hall - Denver, CO

I couldn't have picked a better venue to see my favorite artist of all time, Allan Rayman, than The Globe Hall. The quirky music venue/BBQ restaurant had all the backwoods subtleties of something you might find in a music video from Rayman's  first album Hotel Allan. The opener consisted of a three piece mariachi band that was confusing, yet delightfully enjoyable for a San Antonio native. My excitement began to build as the venue begin to crowd and Allan came on stage. His bad boy James Dean mystic mixed with his incomparable raspy  vocals lived up to all of my expectations. Even in the way he flailed his body around on stage was almost as if the music was completely taking over just exploding at the seems to come out of him. All my dreams came true when after the performance Allan Rayman stuck around and I was able to express my gratitude for a true artist who got me REALLY listening to music. 09/19/2017 - Ben Folds @ Ogden Theatre - Denver, CO

"Everyone do us a favor. Take out your smartphones, call the person next to you and put them on speaker. Then put the phones together, ying and yang or 69 style." The cellist of Tall Heights told the crowd, "Make music with us." The packed Ogden theatre felt like a small intimate venue while Tall Heights played and it stayed that way once Ben Folds took the stage. With his piano set center stage, Ben drew the crowd in with familiar fan favorites and comical anecdotes. Before intermission, he deligated to the audience to collect a paper from his table in the back and write down songs they would like him to play when he returned to the stage.  But before he left to take a short break he gave everyone one more song and surprised everyone with live assembly and jam on a drum set that had been stashed around the stage. Before he returned a man dressed in an elf costume holding two red flashing lights commanded the crowd to fold their papers into airplanes and throw them to the stage on the count of 10. At one well over one hundred paper airplanes soared through the air landing on the stage. Ben returned to the stage and began picking the pieces of paper up 1 by 1 and began playing the first 10 songs he saw on the pages. It was a memorable show filled with new music as well as old favorites that got the crowd cheering. @papabirdphoto

08/11/2017 - Triple A Conference Night Three @ Fox Theater - Boulder, CO

Portugal. The Man brought the trippy psychedelic vibes to the last night of the Triple A Conference in Boulder this past weekend. But before they even hit the stage, my mind was blown away by the range of talent that opened at both the Fox Theater and at a stage set up at the bottom of the Hill. The small outdoor stage introduced Boulder to the nostalgic folk sounds of Marlon Williams and the rocking jams of Colony House. Meanwhile over at the Fox, The Shelters kicked the 80's greaser vibes into high gear, followed by LP's insane tonal range somewhat reminiscent of Stevie Nicks. Every performance had it's own unique twist, leaving everyone in the audience feeling satisfied. Photographs by Meg O'Neill ( @letgomymego ).

"Just to clear up any confusion. Yes, we are also in the other band that is playing tonight. Good, I'm glad we got that cleared up." - Erik Koskinen of the Erik Koskinen Dou and Dead Man Winter. Last nights show was full of funny tidbits like this one. Erik being from Colorado had many friends in the crowd which gave him and the rest of the band plenty of opportunities for jokes and light hearted banter. While opening the show Erik brought on the rest of Dead Man Winter as guests to help play his songs and finished his set by saying, "We've got one more song for you and then the headliner will be out." The headliner, which was the same guys that were just on stage, proceeded to play plenty of old and new songs while taking shots with the crowd and even covering a song from the band Trampled By Turtles, which two of the members of Dead Man Winter are also members of. They covered themselves. Summing up the show with a 3 song encore David Simonett gave us one more great qoute, "Just one more song and we'll let you go home." Photos by: Kenneth Coles @knnthclsphoto
